ATTENTION STUDENTS:

  • ATTENTION SENIORS! Yearbooks are now $80 and can be purchased during break or lunch at D116. Last day for pre-orders is April 9. Limited copies are available, so order yours asap!
  • ATTENTION SENIORS! Want a way to congratulate yourself, a friend, or your squad? Then, buy a congratulatory advertisement at D116 during break or lunch. Prices vary based on page size. See the congratulatory advertisement fliers around the school, in your English class, or a yearbook officer for prices.    
  • Attention Freshmen Students: If you indicated your interest in enrolling in either the Lodging Management Program or ProStart, the Tourism Academy program would like to meet with you. Beginning January 23, you will be invited for a brief interview in either Room F103 or G104 during your 5th period class.  For more information, please contact Mrs. Carol Cruz, Lodging Management Program Teacher via email, carol.cruz@guamcc.edu, or see Mrs. Rose Marie Nanpei, CTE Counselor.
  • Hafa Teen Magazine:  Are looking for essays, short stories, articles and tips for the following topics: 1)Prom, 2) Self-Love 3) #FundTheFuture Seminar by Jerred Pastones-The Native Worldwide 4)ANY TOPIC that you feel teens are interested.  Also, original artwork are also welcome.  Please email to the following for more information: hafateen@gmail.com.  Submissions are due February 16, 2018.
  • Toyota 12th Annual Dream Car Contest: Contest Theme is “Your Dream Car”.  Students between the ages of 12-15 are eligible to join.  For more information, please see the information flyer provided to yours teachers OR visit the website www.akguam.com\dreamcar.  Entry deadline is February 28, 2018.
  • Attendance: The administration and teachers are guided by Guam Attendance Law 26-104 and Board Policies 411 and 330 when dealing with absences or truancy. Submit excuse notes to the Main Office upon returning from an absence. Keep the stub as your receipt and monitor your absences. Each note is only valid up to two days of absence and the limit is 6 notes or equivalent to a total of 12 days excusable per semester. Absences for 3 consecutive days or more, Doctor’s Note or pre-arranged absence is required.
  • Make-Up Work: Students are responsible in communicating and following up with teachers for make-up work. Submit it within the given due date. Unexcused absences or absences that are excused after the grace period of three school days do not guarantee full access to make up work.

FROM THE COUNSELORS:   

  • Attention Islanders, the 2018 Youth for Youth Conference will be held Friday, March 16 to Sunday, March 18 at the Hyatt Regency Resort Guam. Registration fee is $100. See Mr. Lujan in the Counseling Office for registration details. Only 10 slots to attend are available.
  • Seniors, have you completed the FAFSA?  Reach for College will be library starting at 7:30 am on February 6-7 (all day) if you need help applying for FAFSA.  Please see Ms. Nanpei in the Counseling Office for more information.
  • Student Service Learning Proposal: Students who would like to develop their own service learning activity must obtain a service learning proposal from Ms. Diniega located in the main office.  Service learning activities must follow certain guidelines before any teacher can accept a request and input service learning hours for a student.
  • The 2018 Bank of Guam IFIT Scholarship is now available to graduating high school seniors to earn a $2,000 scholarship to attend college, supplemented by a paid Bank of Guam summer internship. See your Counselor for more information and application.
  • Interested in getting hands on scientific research experience during the summer and getting paid doing it?  Apply for STEP UP! Short Term Research Experience For Underrepresented Persons.  Please see your science teacher for more information about this program.  Or see the website http://stepup.niddk.nih.gov and apply online before Feb. 15, 2018.

  • The Class of 2020 Presents "On the Wings of Love"Sweetheart's Ball, Scheduled for Saturday, February 17, 2018 at the Pacific Star Hotel from 6pm - 11pm.  Tickets are now on sale!  $35.00 for Single and $65.00 for Couple.  Tickets will be sold during lunch time or you can see Sinot Terlaje in room D216.  There will be raffle prizes, games and entertainment throughout the night! So Come and Let's Celebrate a night with your special Valentine!  *If you have any questions, feel free to see Sinot Terlaje, Ms. Michelle Santos or anyone of the Class of 2020 Officers.
  • Islanders, this is your time to showcase your being technologically savvy!  DOODLE 4 GOOGLE is currently accepting applications for this competition.  You can visit doodle4google.com or visit Mr. Seerengan in the Library during lunch break for application forms. The deadline to submit application is March 2, 2018. BIBA Islanders!
  • PTSA Meeting is scheduled on Feb 8 at 6:30 P.M. in the Media Center in the Library.  Please, encourage your parents/guardians to attend.
  • There are not holidays in February.  Make sure you come to school everyday.

  • Eskuelan Puengi starts Monday.  Please, check for your names on the announcements posted in front of the teachers’ classrooms and around the school.  Do your best and earn your credits for graduation!
  • The Class of 2021 is selling long-sleeve t-shirts in front of the main office on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays during lunch.  Sizes Small, Medium, and Large will cost $15.  Sizes 2XL, 3XL, and 4XL will cost $20.  CASH ONLY!!  Sample sizes will be available.  Last day to submit orders is on Friday, February 23.  T-shirts are expected to be delivered about 3-4 weeks after February 23.

ATTENTION STUDENTS:

  • Attention Islanders! Vivace is taking pre-orders for JFK Music Spirit Shirts in Black, White, Athletic Gray, Navy and Royal Blue for only $10. Designs are posted throughout the campus. Please see any senior member or place your order in the choir room, D101, during break or lunch only. The last day to order is Wednesday, February 21. 
  • ISLANDERS! Read-a-thon is ongoing at our school, so let's spread the love for reading and read, read, read! On an additional note, your cards with pledge money are due to your participating English teacher on February 26-27. Keep up the good work! 
  • ISLANDERS! Read-a-thon "kickoff week" is February 19-23. In celebration, a $50 worth of prizes will be offered to the first two students who get "BINGO" on the Reading BINGO challenges. See Mr. Orot (B206), Ms. Cordova (B210), or your English teacher for more details and how to participate!

There are only 35 slots available.
  • ATTENTION SOPHOMORES, the PSAT 10 will be administered on Thursday, March 8, 2018 students who are interested must pay the test fee of $10.00 at the Business office during the 2nd Half of Lunch or after school and see Mr. Lujan in the Counselling Office with their receipt and to pick up the PSAT10 Student Guide. There are only 45 slots.

  • Congratulations to our JFKHS Islander Family for winning Top Secondary School Islandwide for Read-a-Thon 2018! Thank you to the diligent participants who collected a total of over $8,000 worth of pledges and to all who supported their efforts, including our very own faculty and staff! If anyone still has a Read-a-Thon card and pledge money, please continue to submit it to your respective English teacher. Biba Literacy and Biba Islanders!
  • Seniors! There will be a Senior Parent Info Meeting on Wed. March 21 in the Cafeteria from 6-7 P.M. Please encourage your parents to attend! Seniors earn one incentive point if their parent(s)/guardian(s) attend!

ATTENTION STUDENTS

  • WELCOME BACK, ISLANDERS!  We hope you had a restful and rejuvenating Spring Break.
  • Districtwide Assessments (DWA) will be administered on April 17-19 and April 23-30.  There will be modified schedule for these days.  Please see your teachers for more information.
  • April 3, tomorrow is PTC from 7-12.  There are no classes.
  • Hafa Adai Islanders! Do love anime? How about gaming? Well, here is an opportunity to enjoy both worlds! Introducing "Press Play!"   • Islanders!  Are you planning on becoming a future leader for our school? Well, now is your chance! You will be able to pick up election packets for the 2018-2019 school year starting from April 2 to April 6.  Submission of election packets is on April 10 and campaigning will be from April 11to the 18th.  Campaign speeches will be held on April 19 and 20.  The voting will take place on April 24 and April 25.  GOOD LUCK!

ATTENTION STUDENTS

Progress Report for 4th quarter will be issued on 04/27/18. REMINDER only 5 weeks left of school year! Do your best in attendance, citizenship, and academics.   

  • Standards Based Assessment/SBA will be administered this week, April 23-30, following a modified bell schedule. Please check with your teachers for more information. Do your best to get a restful sleep, attend school, eat breakfast, and answer test items to the best of your abilities!
  • ISLANDERS! Do you want to build your leadership skills? Interact with other leaders? The Island-wide Board of Governing Students presents "The Bright Lights That Lead" Seminar. An event packed with games, inspiring speeches, food, and so much more! The event will occur in May 5, in the OHS Cafeteria from 7:45-2:00pm. See Mxoe Ramos or Talysa Kakas to pick up a registration packet. Submission is due on April 27. We hope to see you there!
  • Seniors! Absolute last day to purchase senior prom tickets is on May 4. Single tickets are $40, and Couple's tickets are $70. You can purchase your tickets at Rm. D116 during lunch. Hurry, there are a few tickets left!
  • Seniors! Our last Senior-Parent Informational Meeting is on May 3, 6pm at the Media Center. We will be distributing the senior agreements there. 
  • ATTENTION SENIORS!  Have you signed up for your WorkKeys Curriculum account? As mandated by the Guam Education Board, all graduating Seniors MUST TAKE the ACT WorkKeys Assessment before the end of the school year.  See any of the Business Ed teachers on the 2nd floor of the A Wing for details: Mrs. Quinata in A208, Mr. Salvador in A211, or Mrs. Wooley in A207. 
  • JFK Music and Vivace presents "SHINE" featuring Voce Nuevo! Join the choirs on Friday, May 4 and Saturday, May 5 at our JFK Gym for an eclectic evening of music as they sing their hearts out for you! Pre-sold tickets are $7 and $9 at the door. Please see any choir member, visit the choir room (D101). Proceeds will help keep music alive in our school.
  • Hafa Adai Islanders! Close Up Organization is conducting a Toiletry Drive until April 26.  Donations will be given to Guma San Jose and Sanctuary Inc. You can donate items such as soap, toothpaste, toilet tissue, shampoo, conditioner, etc. See your Social Studies teacher for this service learning opportunity or drop off your donations to room A-205.

ISLANDER PRIDE ACCOMPLISHMENTS!

  • Thank you to all who attended, participated, and supported the Islander Pride Day that was held this past Saturday at Micronesia Mall!
  • Congratulations to Daniel Kang! This past Saturday at UOG, Daniel took first place in Lincoln-Douglas Debate at the Guam District National Forensic League Finals.
  • At the UOG’s 10th annual Math Quiz Competition (April 21), congratulations JFK Math team for winning1st and 2nd place for category 1.
  • Congratulations to the JFK Robotics Team (Joshua Cepeda, Jia Yang Chen, Kai Feng Chen, Yvan Chu, and Sophie Ferrer) for winning 1st place in the MATE Guam Regional Competition for the Navigator Class Underwater Robots. ATTENTION STUDENTS

  • Student eating breakfast and lunch are to proceed to the cafeteria. There is no need for tickets.
  • Student packers are due on Friday, August 31st.
  • Attention Islanders! Do you have a talent for photography or editing? Interested in participating in a project in which the school can benefit? There will be an unofficial Yearbook Club meeting for interested individuals and election of officers on Thursday, September 6, during lunch at B206."
  • Hafa Adai Islanders! Are you interested in the Chamoru culture? Join the Chamoru Club, there'll be a meeting on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 during the second half of lunch @ B107!
  • Attention Seniors: I hope you are enjoying the beginning of your senior year. A class meeting is scheduled in the media center during lunch on Tuesday, August 28. Important matters, such as senior portraits and cap and gowns, will be discussed. Let's make our last year at JFK as a class a memorable one. Looking forward to seeing you all at the class meeting!
  • Congratulations to some of our fellow Islanders who accomplished great things this summer. At this year's Cocos Crossing, Inori Matsumoto placed first in her division in the 3K race and the first male finisher in the 10K division was Taiga Sato. The Oceania weightlifting championships were held in June where Dayamaya and Dayalani Calma both earned medals. At the Micronesian Games in Yap, Richelle Tugade earned one bronze and five gold medals. We are very proud of you. Keep up the good work. Go Islanders!

  • Hafa Adai Islanders! There will be a MANDATORY WAY SOP meeting for all ADVISORS and OFFICERS of CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS 11 am on AUGUST 30 (Thursday) in the Media Center first half of lunch.  Please be prompt. 
  • Equipment Inventory List (classrooms and offices) are due by 2:00 p.m. on Fri., September 7 to the FOAS Office.  Please contact Ms. Tessie Cruz or Doria Cruz if you have any questions.
  • Classroom Inventory- Instructional Material (FORM "B"-Textbooks) is due by 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 26 to the FOAS Office.

  • Our school bulletin will be published once a week, every Monday. Please, submit announcement(s) electronically to Mrs. Anub, Assistant Principal (ptranub@gdoe.net) before 12:00 noon on Thursdays. Submission of announcements later than the noon deadline will be honored on the next day of publication.
  • Student submissions for the bulletin must be acknowledged by the advisor/teacher/coach.
